Get Ready for BackupBuddy 3.0 Beta

BackupBuddy 3.0 is almost here – soon we’ll send the 3.0 Beta test version to many of you (who’ve requested it) so that you can help us test it.
Test it, backup with it, import with it, restore with it, break it, and more: please try everything and anything you wish, and let us know what you find.

Here are 6 things you should remember when you get BackupBuddy 3.0 Beta:

6 Important Things to Realize when Testing BackupBuddy 3.0 Beta

1. Make Full and DB Only backups with BackupBuddy 2.2.35. Even though BackupBuddy 3.0 Beta is rock solid, be sure to make full backups and DB only backups (both) with the last stable version, 2.2.35, which is available in your Member’s panel.Since the “Beta” word is involved, something may go wrong at any time.
2. Make Full and DB Only backups with BackupBuddy 3.0 Beta. Make all backups with BackupBuddy 3.0 – both for testing and for safekeeping.
3. Post all findings in the support forums. We need your help to collect all the feedback for 3.0 . Post all BackupBuddy 3.0 testing feedback in the BackupBuddy forums.If possible, please begin all your posts titles with the words “[3.0 BB Feedback]“, like “[3.0 BB Feedback] Import Timeout“
4. Remember to revert back – since it’s a Beta! While you can optionally use BackupBuddy 3.0 Beta in live sites, you should have backups to go back to in case of any issues.Remember: since it’s “beta”, if you run into any issues, we won’t be able to fix them immediately and will recommend that you use the 2.2.35 version instead if you’re stuck.
5. Multisite Beta support We started offering beta support for Multisites last year, and the tradition continues with 3.0 . BackupBuddy 3.0 Beta contains massive Multisite feature enhancements. While the Beta label is still there for Multisite support in BackupBuddy, we’re very close to removing the “beta” label from Multisite support.Please post all Multisite Beta feedback in the Multisite forums. Title all your posts with the beginning words “[3.0 MS Feedback]“, like “[3.0 MS Feedback] – User roles disappeared.“
6. Separate feedback posts from support posts with the “[3.0 BB/MS Feedback]” titles. Please be sure to put “[3.0 BB Feedback]” or “[3.0 BB Feedback]” in the titles of any posts on the forums which are related to BackupBuddy 3.0 Beta.

Are You Ready for BackupBuddy 3.0?

BackupBuddy 3.0 Beta should be available soon. We’ll be contacting those of you who have requested to help test the new Beta version.
Remember please: do not use the 3.0 beta on any live site unless you have a full backup that you can revert to. Until BackupBuddy 3.0 Beta goes out of the Beta stage (or any specific feature, like the Multisite Beta), we’ll work hard to fix any issues you may encounter while advising you to use 2.2.35 if you need an immediate fix.

Welcome to the New iThemes.com

The new iThemes.com is here. It’s been a long time coming (the previous design was 3 years old!) and we’re excited to share some of the new features that we hope will enhance your experience with the site.
We’ve been intentional about the style and structure of the redesign, so every detail has a purpose and objective. iThemes has grown and changed dramatically in the years since we first launched, and we’ve badly needed a site that truly reflects who we are today by showcasing all of our products, services and content in a new way.
You can check out iThemes Home Page  with Brad (our designer) and Ty (from our iThemes Home Page division) about their approach to the redesign and their favorite parts of the new site.
We’re hoping you’ll enjoy the new iThemes.com as much as we do, as we’ve finally combined the two-fold purpose of an easy-to-manage site for us on the backend, with a beautiful, efficient site for you, our guests and community, on the front-end.
Here are a few features we want to highlight:

It’s on Builder

iThemes.com is no ordinary WordPress site. More than 250 pages, countless blog posts, integrations with our eCommerce and forum software – all sorts of complications that make switching over to a new theme a big deal. Because of this complexity, we avoided a major theme redesign for a long time. The longer we waited, the more the old franken-theme grew. But we’re finally happy to announce that our site is using the theme we built for ourselves in 2009 – Builder. We’ve been drooling over the features and flexibility of Builder as we’ve added to it and created themes for it. We realized how much easier things would be if we could only use Builder. And now we can take full advantage of it. We’ll be publishing a series of blog posts about how we’re using Builder in the new site and how we made it responsive, in the coming weeks.

In March of 2010, we launched PluginBuddy as our plugin division to provide professional plugins with guaranteed support and updates. Since then, our plugin library has grown to include over 20 premium plugins and our best-selling plugin, BackupBuddy.
iThemes and PluginBuddy have always been ONE company with ONE team of developers and staff, but we’d found it increasingly difficult to manage products and content between two separate domains. With the launch of the new iThemes.com, we’ve created a single, robust site that includes all of our plugins and themes. Starting today, the PluginBuddy domain will be forwarded to corresponding URLs at iThemes.com:

We’re hoping PluginBuddy’s merge into the iThemes.com site will reduce confusion about our products and make it easier for visitors to find and access everything they need from one place without having to switch between separate domains.
